GREEN BUILDING PROJECT TO
HELP FIGHT POVERTY & POLLUTION
We are currently working on a housing project to help locals build sustainable homes by using tires and eco-bricks made out of plastic we find in the environment.
There are many ways to get involved and help our cause! If you are interested, please get in touch with us. We need volunteers to help us with grant-writing, fundraising, coordinating the trainings, sending emails, and social media. We will also be hosting volunteers at El Salvador retreat to help with building and art projects.
How Our Nonprofit Started!
A nation is only as strong as its people. Unfortunately, we’re facing ongoing challenges around the world that compromise our prosperity day after day. Our story began when our founder began teaching yoga internationally. She was instantly exposed to the incredible work opportunities she was being given compared to the minimum wage most locals work such long hours for.
That’s when it hit her. Why was she being hired, and not a country’s locals? Simple. Most countries lack the training opportunities needed to prepare residents for jobs. Seeing as our founder couldn’t find a solution, she made one - and it goes by the name of Blessed are the Flexible.
Our original mission was to provide high-quality vocational training to women worldwide, giving them the ability to take control of their lives. Throughout Central and South America, minimum wage ranges from a mere 60 cents to $3.87 an hour - with a 48-hour work-week in most countries. Massage/personal training in these regions typically costs between $35 and $60, sometimes even more. That’s 15–60 times more income!
In 2018 and 2019, we ran several trainings in Granada, Nicaragua, and San Jose, Costa Rica. Due to COVID, we had to put a hold on everything! In 2021, our founder moved to El Salvador and has been assessing the best way to run our vocational training there and how we could truly benefit the community in the best ways possible.
She has found that no amount of Thai Yoga Massage training will really benefit the community in a way that will free them from poverty. The rural areas of El Salvador are where poverty hits hardest as there is a lack of tourism and high-paying job opportunities. In order to help these communities, we need to help them create a better quality of life through both housing projects and educational workshops that can help them thrive.
There is a way to build homes out of dirt and garbage that can provide low-cost homes. These homes are actually a better way of building and are earthquake-proof, flood-proof, bullet-proof, termite-proof, and mold-proof. They are naturally insulated and keep the house at a comfortable temperature day and night. Our founder attended a month-long intensive training with Long Way Home in Guatemala to help us gain knowledge of how to construct these homes inside and out! We are currently working on the foundation of our first eco brick home as of August 17, 2023.
We are currently looking for land to buy that we would able to build several homes on to create a sustainable eco-community for the locals currently living in severe poverty. This project would also include setting them up with a home-based business that they could use to make revenue, barter, and trade with, and sustain themselves at the same time. Goats, chickens, permaculture, and training will be provided to help set them up for success.
Never underestimate the power of training, equipping people with not only new knowledge, but a renewed sense of purpose and the ability to take better care of themselves and their families. Our educational opportunities have the potential to change lives; through the power of not only massage now but also green building, nutritional health, and financial wellness. No equipment. No overhead. No risky investments. Our money goes straight to the cause.
The money we raise is used to offset the costs involved with offering training, buying land and animals, and construction materials. At times money will go towards: meals for volunteers helping with builds, workbooks, manuals, equipment for new businesses, business cards, and websites to help the locals with their businesses.
We are so excited to start providing families with a true home and make a positive impact on the environment as well. We know the ripple effect that this could have throughout El Salvador and are looking forward to seeing how it evolves.
